LaneFX is not like blind spot mirrors. It's only a mobile electronics system that moves your power mirrors in lane changes and merges.

HOME: LaneFX is designed to fit your driving style. You can personalize virtually every aspect of your power mirror movement for safer lane changes, merges and parallel parking. LaneFX adapts to you, not the other way around!

DRIVING WITH LANEFX SYSTEM OPERATION

BASIC BUTTON OPERATION

Your LaneFX system provides two activation buttons (for left and right mirrors). You and your installer should determine the best location to install them. LaneFX buttons should be located in a readily-reachable position without having to look away from the road.

When a LaneFX activation button is pressed, the corresponding power side mirror in your vehicle will begin to move "outward" to sweep and expose your blind spot. The mirror expands outward up to a Maximum Expansion Angle. This mirror then pauses for a pre-set delay and then returns to its original position.

WHEN YOU ACTIVATE LANEFX, THE SYSTEM CHANGES THE REFLECTED VIEW (WHAT YOU SEE) IN THE AFFECTED SIDE MIRROR. THE VIEW IN SUCH MIRROR WILL NOT BE THE SAME AS THE VIEW FROM THE ORIGINAL MIRROR POSITION.

This system includes two small LED lights (representing left and right mirrors). These LEDs are "mirror-in-motion" indicators.  Whenever a side mirror is in motion or is not in the position where you have originally set it,  LaneFX turns on the corresponding LED light.

You should not operate a LaneFX-equipped vehicle in which the "mirror-in-motion" LED indicators are defective, not installed or are not readily-visible.

MIRROR MOVEMENT CUSTOMIZATION

You can personalize your LaneFX system to suit your driving style and preferences. The LaneFX system provides an easy way to modify virtually every aspect of mirror movement. You can customize mirror movement behavior separately for the left and right mirrors using the buttons and LCD screen on the front of your LaneFX system. Refer to Section 5 for all LaneFX mirror movement customization options.

If your vehicle's power mirrors are too slow for an effective LaneFX movement, you can safely boost the speed of your mirrors up to 200%. See section 5 to learn about this and other customization options.

TURN SIGNAL OPERATION

(Available on Commuter Edition / New Vehicle Edition Only)

LaneFX equipped with the option activates every time you activate your turn signal. You may choose from two configurable modes for turn signal LaneFX movement: Normal and Sticky. Refer to Section 5 to learn which mode is right for you.

The LaneFX system is designed such that there must be a 1 second period between back-to-back LaneFX activations using the same turn signal. This only applies to turn-signal-activated LaneFX movements. The LaneFX activation buttons respond in real time.

LANE MERGES & EXTENDED PAUSES

There will be driving situations where you could benefit from keeping the mirror expanded at its Maximum Expansion position for a longer period than the pause period configured in the system. This occurs most commonly when using LaneFX to merge onto a highway from a long entrance ramp.

To hold the mirror longer at its Maximum Expansion Angle, simply keep the corresponding LaneFX activation button depressed for as long as you need. When you release the button, LaneFX returns the mirror normally.  Whenever a mirror is held at its Maximum Expansion Angle, the corresponding LED light will change from solid on to a blinking pattern.

OVERRIDING MIRROR RETURN

If LaneFX is returning to its original position but you have a need to re-examine your blind spot zone right away, you do not have to wait for the return movement to conclude before activating LaneFX again. Pressing the LaneFX activation button again reverses mirror return movement and sends the mirror back out to its Maximum Expansion position for greater responsiveness.

You can combine the use of activation buttons and turn signals. For example, you can use your turn signal to start LaneFX mirror movement and then depress the LaneFX button to keep the mirror held at the Maximum Expansion Angle.

PARKFX

(Available on New Car Edition, Commuter Edition and Highway Edition only)

ParkFX moves both or one of your power mirrors downward when you put the vehicle in reverse. This allows you to expose the curb in parallel parking situations or parking/driveway boundaries in general. ParkFX returns the mirrors to their original position whenever the vehicle is taken out of reverse. ParkFX gives you the choice and flexibility of customizing which mirror tilts down and how far.

USING THE LANEFX  CUSTOMIZITION OPTIONS

The LaneFX system is designed using simple menu system that is shown on the LCD display. Use the four buttons on the face of the LaneFX unit to navigate through the menus and to enter all adjustments into the system.

Customizing your LaneFX is a lot like finding the ideal seat position when you purchase a new vehicle. You will probably find yourself adjusting the system a few times before you find the "comfort zone" that suits your own driving style.

When changing the value of a particular feature, Your must press ENTER  in order for your changes to be saved in the system. The system cancels any unsaved changes and returns to the run screen after 30 seconds of inactivity.

TAILORING LANEFX TO YOUR DRIVING STYLE SYSTEM OPTIONS & ADJUSTMENTS

The following is a list of adjustment descriptions. The order of the adjustments listed in this section follows the same order in your LaneFX system when you scroll through the main menu, starting from the Normal Run Screen.

NORMAL "RUN" SCREEN

When the LaneFX system is in normal operation, the LCD screen will show the following message: “LaneFX Build 18.x is Running” followed by scrolling periods.

ALL LANEFX MIRROR MOVEMENTS ARE SUSPENDED WHEN ADJUSTMENTS ARE BEING MADE IN THE LCD SCREEN. LANEFX IS ONLY OPERATIONAL WHEN THE LCD SCREEN IS DISPLAYING THE NORMAL "LANEFX BUILD 18.x IS RUNNING…" RUN SCREEN.

MAXIMUM EXPANSION ANGLE

This adjustment allows you to control how far each power mirror expands outward when LaneFX is activated.

Most drivers set their right mirror to expand slightly less than the left.  This is due to the difference in the size and location of the two blind spot zones in any given vehicle. Most likely, you will go through a few adjustments before you find the setup that most suits your driving style and your vehicle.  To modify the Maximum Expansion Angle:

  • From Normal Run Screen, use PLUS to get to Adj Max Exp Angle screen, then ENTER.
  •  PLUS / MINUS to choose which mirror (Left or Right) you would like to apply this change.
  • To make mirror expand:

More: use PLUS to increase value - Less: use MINUS to decrease value

  • Press ENTER to save.  System will restart and your new setting is active.
  • Activate LaneFX in the affected mirror to test the adjustment. Readjust if necessary.

When testing your mirror movement adjustment, check to ensure that the mirror is not expanding beyond what the mirror surface is physically capable of moving. If you set the mirror to expand too far, it may hit the mirror’s end-of-travel limit. Allowing the mirror to expand beyond the end-of-travel point causes inaccurate LaneFX mirror returns.

Due to different vehicle geometries, the Maximum Expansion Angle measurement displayed on the screen is based on a unit that may be slightly less or more than one degree.

PAUSE AT MAXIMUM EXPANSION ANGLE

This adjustment allows you to set how long each mirror pauses at its Maximum Expansion Angle before beginning to return to its original position.

To modify the pause period for a given mirror:

  • From Normal Run Screen, use PLUS to get to Adj Pause @ Max Exp Angle screen, then ENTER.
  • PLUS / MINUS to choose which mirror (Left or Right) you would like to apply this change.
  • To make the mirror pause:

More: PLUS to increase the value - Less: MINUS to decrease the value

To set the mirror to return immediately without pausing, decrease the pause time to 0.00 seconds.

  • Press ENTER to save.  System will restart and your new setting is active.
  • Activate LaneFX in the affected mirror to test the adjustment. Readjust if necessary.

MIRROR MOVEMENT SPEED ENHANCEMENT

(Available on New Car Edition, Commuter Edition and Highway Edition only)

LaneFX is capable of increasing the speed of your power mirror motors which provides rapid overall LaneFX mirror movement. This feature increases LaneFX’s responsiveness to your driving needs. This adjustment allows you to set the left and right mirror speeds (individually) from 100% (which is your vehicle’s standard factory mirror speeds) up to 200% (twice as fast as your vehicle’s original power mirror speed). To modify the speed of your power mirrors:

  • From Normal Run Screen, use PLUS to get to Adj Pause @ Max Exp Angle screen, then ENTER.
  • PLUS / MINUS to choose which mirror (Left or Right) you would like to apply this change.
  • The mirror speed value shown is a percentage increase from the factory power mirror speed. To make you mirror move

Faster: PLUS to speed up the LaneFX mirror movement speed
Slower: MINUS to slow down the LaneFX mirror movement speed

  • Press ENTER to save.  System will restart and your new setting is active.
  • Activate LaneFX in the affected mirror to test the adjustment. Readjust if necessary.

CHOOSING MIRROR MOVEMENT WITH PARKFX

(Available on New Car Edition, Commuter Edition and Highway Edition only)

ParkFX can tilt one or both side mirrors downward when you put the vehicle in reverse. This is helpful to expose the curb or parking boundaries around you when you are backing up.

ALWAYS USE CAUTION WHEN BACKING UP. WHEN YOU ACTIVATE PARKFX, THE SYSTEM CHANGES THE REFLECTED VIEW (WHAT YOU SEE) IN THE AFFECTED SIDE MIRROR(S). THE VIEW IN SUCH MIRROR(S) WILL NOT BE THE SAME AS THE VIEW FROM THE ORIGINAL MIRROR POSITION.

You can choose which mirror should move when the vehicle is in reverse.

  • From Normal Run Screen, use PLUS to get to Set Target ParkFX Mirrors screen, then ENTER.
  • PLUS / MINUS to toggle between the options of: enabling both mirrors, left only, right only, or neither.
  • Press ENTER to save.  System will restart and your new setting is active.

Some luxury SUVs and sedans have an equivalent function to ParkFX. Although with virtually all of them, these systems run with either both mirrors tilting down or neither. ParkFX provides you with added flexibility of a single mirror tilting as well as a customizable tilt down angle (see next section). ParkFX is also designed to work safely with such factory system. If your vehicle is equipped with a comparable function to ParkFX, you can:

    • Choose to use the factory system by keeping your mirror adjustment panel selector (what you use to normally adjust your power mirrors) set to either Left or Right, OR
    • You can enable ParkFX to override the factory function by keeping your mirror adjustment panel selector set to middle.

CUSTOMIZING PARKFX MIRROR TILT DOWN ANGLE

(ParkFX is available on New Car Edition, Commuter Edition and Highway Edition only)

This option enables you to choose how much your mirrors tilt down when the vehicle is put in reverse using ParkFX. For example, taller vehicles (such as SUVs and trucks) typically require a greater ParkFX tilt-down angle than average sedans.

Tilt down angle cannot be customized separately for the left and right mirror.

To customize ParkFX mirror tilt-down angle:

  • From Normal Run Screen, use PLUS to get to Adj ParkFX Tilt Down Angle screen, then ENTER.
  • To make your side mirrors tilt down:

More: use PLUS to increase value - Less: use MINUS to decrease value

  • Press ENTER to save.  System will restart and your new setting is active.
  • Activate ParkFX in the affected mirror to test the adjustment. Readjust if necessary.

CHOOSING TURN SIGNAL MODE

(Available on Commuter Edition / New Vehicle Edition Only)

Your turn signals can work in one of two ways. Choose the mode that best fits your driving style:

  • From Normal Run Screen, use PLUS to get to Set Turn Signal Mode screen, then ENTER.
  • PLUS / MINUS to toggle between the following two modes:

Normal Mode works exactly the same way as pressing a LaneFX activation button. i.e. Whenever a turn signal is activated, LaneFX performs a complete movement (expand – pause – return)
Sticky Mode forces the mirror to stay expanded as long as the turn signal is still activated. Once the turn signal is turned off, LaneFX returns the mirror back to its original position.

  • Press ENTER to save.  System will restart and your new setting is active.
  • Activate LaneFX using a turn signal to test the mode selection.
